Sarah Berners

Sarah Berners is a Melbourne based artist whose work encompasses painting, photography and sculpture. Birthed within the arena of a high fashion aesthetic and luxuriating in their own sumptuous surfaces, her large pristine photographs explore notions of the artificial and the abject as they intersect within pop culture representations. Berners’ practice shifts between positions of passivity and activity, desire and detatchment, suggesting an ambivalence in regards to the validity of contemporary media representations and fashion bibles.
